Why Do I Want to Become an Art Educator

At Parkview Elementary the fifth grade class was allowed to join a program called Circle of Friends. Circle of Friends is an amazing opportunity for students to join together with students that have special education needs. I was able to work with a student named Seth. We created such a strong bond with each other, I was able to join classes, field trips and special events with him. Helping Seth through his education, I learned I wanted to become a teacher. He was so grateful to have a buddy to look up to. Seeing him overcome obstacles and helping him through this progress made me realize I want to become an educator. Through high school I joined my first serious art courses and saw the impact it had on many students. Art class is a place where every student fits in. There is no judgement. I want to become an art educator so I can help students feel like they belong as they go through many different transitions. I want to encourage students to grow and discover who they are.
